This weekend, at Fantasycon 2024 in Chester, UK, I was invited to contribute to a panel about Beating Neurodiversity Stereotypes in media.
I have ADHD, so I felt it was a good opportunity to speak about my own experiences as an author, and seeing through my neurodiverse lens, the media we all consume.
Sarah Rees Brennan (author of Long Live Evil), moderated the panel made up of panellists, Ruth EJ Booth (award winning fiction and non-fiction author), David Green (author of the Empire of Ruin series), Ben Unsworth (horror short story author), and myself.
We had an incredible discussion about neurodivergent representation in media, neurodivergent characters written by non-neurodivergent authors, harmful stereotypes, gaps in representation and much more. Check it out, below.
